THE MAN BEHIND THE MIC
Get to know Cam
Hello everyone ! My name is Cam Iasimone and I am currently at my first full time position with KSN/KODE Local News in Joplin, MO, as a Sports Reporter and Anchor. I am a recent graduate and broadcaster at the University of Rhode Island, in which I covered all sports around campus on ESPN+.
My work consists of Play-by-Play and color commentary for Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball, along with reporting and anchoring. Over the years, I have also been the Digital Correspondent and sideline reporter for URI Football. Additionally, I have landed internship jobs over my college years with 98.5 The Sports Hub, WPRI 12 and WJAR 10 as a Sports Reporter, and ESPN+.
In the midst of guest speaking, interning at radio and news stations, podcasting, writing, reporting, and broadcasting, I had the honor to produce and edit an hour long documentary highlighting the career of my middle and high school basketball coach and a town icon in Johnston Rhode Island, Dan Mazzulla Jr. Dan was the father of Celtics Head Coach Joe Mazzulla.
With the lessons that Dan taught me throughout life, I have been able to put those lessons in effect off the court. Thus what sparked my broadcasting passion. Taking in each and every lesson from Dan, from my family, and from all the people around me who invested in me, truly has made me the man I am today. Whatever opportunities I am granted in this life time will receive a well-rounded, hardworking, dedicated, and passionate person who is a leader in every aspect and will not stop until every box is checked off the list. Even in an instance where every box is checked off, I will still work to exhaustion to make sure I gave everything 110% effort.
CAM'S CORNER PODCAST
Over the last few years, I have been able to produce my own sports podcast called Cam's Corner. All my episodes consists of interviewing guests who range from professional and college athletes, professional and college coaches, sports broadcasters, sports radio hosts, sports public address announcers, and more.
Coming from Johnston Rhode Island, my main goal starting off the podcast was to highlight these sports talents from Rhode Island who have made a name for themselves in the sports world. However since 2021, the outlet has grown into so much more. I construct all the social media postings and accounts, the shows personal website, and weekly uploads on Youtube and all podcast platforms.
"Coach" Self Produced Documentary
“Coach” The Legacy of Daniel E. Mazzulla Jr. is a home documentary filmed and produced by myself, Cam Iasimone. Dan was a town icon in Johnston Rhode Island, and April 22nd, 2023, marks the three year anniversary of his passing. Shining light on an individual so impactful and so powerful to such a small community was the mindset behind the making of this film. During a time like the COVID-19 pandemic, Dan did not get the proper send off he deserved. With the showing of this documentary, I wish to bring his legacy to life.
During this film process, I traveled around New England to interview 40 people who were close friends, family, former teammates, and former players of Dan. With his son Joe Mazzulla becoming the Head Coach of the Boston Celtics, I was able to market this documentary not only to Rhode Island, but the entire New England area as well. My former internship, 98.5 The Sports Hub, recognized and mentioned the documentary while on live TV and on the phone with Joe Mazzulla.
I was also interviewed on ABC 6 News on behalf of Joe and Dan Mazzulla and his historic NBA Finals run in the 2023-2024 season of the NBA.
